A new project on Volgograd history
The Club presented a new long-term project on the 10th of February, 2014.
The project’s aim is to unite and develop local communities by attracting attention to our common city history and culture.
RC Volgograd has cleaned and prepared the territory of a very old outdoor stand in the framework of the project. In the near future, Volgograd Rotarians plan to create a socially oriented information stand with permanent photo exposition and a changing photo exposition (this could include the city’s history through the history of its natives, historical photos devoted to the city’s evolution and etc.).
The Rotary Club of Volgograd plans to restore and modernize the whole stand and the nearby territory at its own expense. And later on Volgograd Rotarians plan to arrange thematic photo expositions on that stand (produced with the use of special banner fabric). It is expected that the photos will be selected from those that will be submitted by local citizens and museums.
A special pilot topic has been chosen for opening the stand, which is “Молодой Волгоград- Young Coventry” and which is directly connected with the 70th anniversary of the Stalingrad Battle Victory and the beginning of the twin-city movement.
The main conductor of the Volgograd Children’s Symphony Orchestra, Yuri Ilinov and the top managers from the Volgograd Administration Regional and External Economic Relations Committee, supported the Club’s project on informing the city publicity about international city events and about Volgograd’s participation in the twin-city movement.
